Invitation wording
Most hosts need three things: a theme, two or three games and a food count. Start with the list below, then use the 30-guest example further down to see how the pieces add up.
Grouped list of shower pages
Use the filter to narrow the list. Each line says what you print or work out on that page.
Games
- Twelve printable games: 12 games, each with group size, minutes and supplies. Cards print on Letter or A4 paper, and a shuffle makes a fresh set.
Look and feel
- Pick a shower theme: 12 themes, each with a palette, a food direction and two matching games. No printing needed, though the palette card prints on Letter or A4. If the palette will carry into the wedding, wedding colors shows how to check contrast.
- Print a welcome sign: 5 layouts. Type a name, then print in three sizes: 8 by 10, 11 by 17 or 18 by 24 inches, depending on the layout.
Food
- How much food to make: a calculator that starts from 30 guests and gives amounts for brunch, afternoon and evening, using assumptions we state.
What to wear
- What the bride can wear: rules by theme and season, plus the one thing to avoid in each case.
Cards and wording
- Wishes for a shower card: 25 short messages grouped by relationship, each with a prompt for one personal detail.
- Thank you cards for gifts: 5 gift types, each with a three-sentence note you can adjust.
Shower invitations and gift ideas are not covered here yet. For the guest list, the wedding guest list template works if the shower and wedding groups overlap.

Theme first, then everything else
- Choose a theme. It sets the palette, the food direction and the tone of the games.
- Fix the guest count and the time of day. Brunch, afternoon and evening each change the food and the pace.
- Work out the food amounts from the guest count.
- Pick three games: one quiet, one short group game and one for the guest of honor. That is our suggestion, and the games page uses the same mix.
- Print the sign and cards a few days ahead, with a test page first.
- Write thank you notes within a few days. A gift log kept as the gifts open makes this quick.
One shower, start to finish: 30 guests at brunch
Our estimate for a 30 guest brunch shower of about three hours. Food amounts come from the food quantities page. Print counts follow the layouts and spare rule on the games page: 2 spares per game that prints per guest, 2 bingo or emoji sheets per page, 4 advice cards or trivia sheets per page.
- Food: 132 savory bites, 66 sweets, 33 cake slices and 12 bottles of sparkling.
- Games chosen: bingo (quiet, runs during gifts), advice cards (for the bride), couple trivia (short group game).
- Bingo: 30 guests + 2 spares = 32 cards, 16 pages.
- Advice cards: 32 cards at 4 per page, 8 pages.
- Couple trivia: 6 teams of 5 + 1 spare = 7 sheets at 4 per page, 2 pages.
- Total to print: 26 pages.
- Hosted game time: advice cards 5 minutes read aloud plus trivia 15 minutes is 20 minutes, or about 11 percent of a 180 minute party. Bingo adds none.
Change the guest count and every line above moves. The food page and the games page do the sums for you.
Hosting or guest: who needs which page
Hosts use the games, theme, food and sign pages. A guest bringing a card needs only the wishes page. The bride can skip the planning and read the outfit rules. Send each person the one page that fits their job instead of the whole hub.
Who is bringing what
Tick an item when someone has taken it. This device remembers your ticks. Copy the list, add names, and send it to the other hosts.
- Food: savory bites and sweets
- Cake or dessert
- Sparkling and a non-alcoholic pour
- Printed games and pens
- Welcome sign and tape
- Gift table and a pen for the gift log
- Decor in the theme palette
Mistakes hosts make
Choosing a theme without a guest count. A theme built for 12 people looks thin with 30. Count first, then browse the theme table.
Over-planning the games. Hosted game time over a third of the party leaves little room to talk. Guests came to see the bride.
Skipping the gift log. Write down who gave what as each gift opens. The notes take minutes instead of an evening.
Printing without a test page. Sizes can look different on a real sheet. Print one page early and check it.
If you are hosting both events
If you are also planning the other party, the bachelorette party planner covers the cost split and itinerary in the same style.
Send this to your co-hosts
Copy one of these and edit it to sound like you.
- “Here is the shower plan with the theme, food count and games. I put a who-is-bringing-what list on the page, so can you pick one job?”
- “I would like three games and a brunch theme. Have a look at the 30 guest example on the page and tell me if the food count looks right.”
Save for later
Pin it now and find it when you are ready to plan.
Questions people ask
What should I decide first for a bridal shower?
Decide the theme, because it sets the palette, the food direction and which games suit the room. Then fix the guest count and the time of day, which decide how much food you need. Games come last, since they fill whatever time is left.
How many games does a bridal shower need?
Three is our suggestion for most showers, matching the games page. Pick one quiet game that runs in the background, one short group game and one for the guest of honor. Our rule is to keep hosted game time under a third of the party.
How long should a bridal shower last?
Plan for about three hours as a starting point. That is the length our food quantities assume, and the games page works an example for a 150 minute party. It is our planning assumption, not a rule. Tell guests the start and end time on the invitation, so nobody wonders when to leave.
